Jack wheeled the little cart through the store toward Vell where she and her father were standing near the onion table.
"Looking for some Dostoyevsky?" he asked Vell. He pulled the cart up beside them and grabbed one of the two books. It was a tattered copy of some short stories. He put the small book on the shelf beside the onions, nodding politely to Vell's dad.
The second book on the cart was titled "Unita Otrouschka." Though it was wrapped in plastic, the binding and cover were riddled with small, ugly cracks. He held it up to Vell. "Yeah, this one's kinda..." Jack trailed off.
"Geez, Jack, this company sucks!" said Vell caustically.
"Well, this is the produce department!" said Jack, waggling his arms sarcastically. "Maybe you should go over to the book department! COME ON!!"
