Jack walked through the darkened mall with Nealsonic and Mandersala. Having to drive underneath a dripping, oily semi earlier had frazzled him, but he was much calmer withing the relative tranquility of the mall. The shops lining the long, polished corridors were mostly closed, but here and there were a few whose lights were on and seemed open for business. In one of these Jack saw a man sitting in a chair, presumably waiting, and Jack wondered briefly if the employees of these odd-hour establishments disliked being open when there was little hope of patronage.
"Here's the restaurant," Jack said to Nealsonic and Mandersala as they walked into the crowded eatery.
