The vessel floated through the light blue void as The Swinger launched himself from its outer surface. Upon reaching the end of his tether, centrifugal force whipped him violently into orbit around the ship where he made ever-shortening loops until landing neatly on a window sill.
He peered into the window at the passengers. One of the cardinals within was there, waiting. The cardinal looked at The Swinger and made his pronouncement:
"I have looked into you and found you unworthy."
At this, The Swinger again launched himself from the outer hull of the ship and again made his loops. He alighted at another window where another cardinal was waiting. They stared at each other only briefly before the cardinal declared:
"I have looked into you and found you unworthy."
The Swinger launched himself again and again, and at each window he heard the same verdict. The ship flew on, The Swinger kept swinging, the cardinals kept judging. In the front cockpit, the Pope turned away from the steering wheel in annoyance and said, "Come on, guys, let him in!"
