Jack sat down heavily in his chair. His new gun-shaped controller was cool, but he feared it's violent appearance would draw unwanted attention. The game continued playing in the background of the small cabin as his family rustled about, working on various tasks.
"Alright, time to go!" said The Mother cheerily.
"I'm not going," Jack said stubbornly, looking up at the blood drive poster plastered to the wall.
"But it's today!" said The Mother.
"I'm not giving my blood, not today," replied Jack.
"But the drive is today!" The Mother cried.
"I'm not going. I just want to get a magazine."
The Father looked up from his place at the sink where he was washing dishes. "They have magazines where we're going. There's a ton, just in back there. They're all...magazines...DS magazines..." he said, trailing off slowly.
